Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) yesterday launched “Travel Card”, a prepaid Visa card for travellers, says a press release.
Ali Reza Ifteker, the bank's chief executive officer, launched the service at a press conference at a city hotel.
“The card has been designed to give tourists a much better alternative of carrying cash and running after money exchange houses. This will also make the travellers free from the risk of counterfeit notes,” said the bank.
The card will have a personal identification number for security purpose and there will be privilege of a free replacement, against lost or theft of the primary card. The card is re-loadable in Bangladesh against the remaining individual travel quota without any extra fee.
